November 2018
Hello Friends! Welcome to this month’s “On My Radar,” where I feature the songs i’m listening to, the movies and shows I’m watching, and more!
November 2018’s been a fun one. A weird one, as with most of the autumn months, but a fun one overall. I went to Emo Nite with my friends, took my mom to her first Hockey Game, embarrassed myself at Friendsgiving, and the list goes on and on, haha. Anyways, I hope ya’ll enjoy my random suggestions and like always— please loop me in on the comments!!
This Month’s Mixtape:
To be honest, through the whole fall season, I pretty much exclusively listen to random indie tracks. I blame my insane inner twilight fan. But anyways, I present to you this month’s eclectic lil mix of what I’m listening to. As usual, I recommend keeping it on shuffle to shake things up, but I went through this mix like six times moving songs around so that it’d sound ok when you listen to them in order too.
Some of my favorite gems in there include: Million Dollar Secret, Aphrodite, I’ll Keep on Following You (thank you Hanan), thank you next (thank you Randolph), and Anywhere (thank you Yemi).

Podcast episodes I’m really into right now (in no particular order):
SYSK Podcast: How Epilepsy Works: Tell me why this episode had me crying at work and wanting to run home and hug my sister? Just kidding, I don’t need you to tell me—I know why. It’s just wild because I’ve been in conversations about epilepsy my entire life, and I’m still not desensitized to it. Anyways, this episode is a really great run-down on what exactly epilepsy is, some history behind it, and some of the crazy ways that people have tried to treat it. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/stuff-you-should-know/id278981407?mt=2&i=1000422423107
Sword and Scale: This episode had me ready to throw up in the trash can at my cubicle. Lol, but thank you Allena for sending it my way, because it’s fun to geek out with you over True Crime Stories. People are MONSTERS my dudes. This episodes about one of them. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/sword-and-scale/id790487079?mt=2&i=1000411246536
Oprah’s Master Class, Cindy Crawford: Wow, Cindy Crawford’s actually really freaking cool!! I’m grown enough now to stop judging books by their covers, but this episode really put a lot of things in perspective for me. Did you know about her connections with Leukemia research? I didn’t. This episode was full of wildly relatable gems and learning lessons that I’m happy I heard. Key takeaways: Sometimes you just have to make your decisions and never look back, Aim for a life where you’re not completely dependent on someone to take care of you and your family, always believe in yourself and your talent and don’t listen to anyone who tries to limit you. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/oprahs-master-class-the-podcast/id1401057414?mt=2&i=1000423447651
Malcom Gladwell’s Revisionist History, Rick Rubin: Ok, I can’t be the only one who’s been curious about the old dude who sleeps on the couch in the back of Kanye’s documentary videos, right?? Well, that guy’s name is Rick Rubin— and he’s a mf LEGEND. I loved this episode because it gave me a cool peek into the hip hop and overall music industry. BONUS: If you’re a hardcore Johnny Cash Fan like me, you’ve got to tune into the last few minutes!! https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/revisionist-history/id1119389968?mt=2&i=1000423747370

Movies/Shows I’m Watching:
I honestly haven’t been watching much this month, but here’s list of what little I did:
TWILIGHT: lollll don’t shame me, I’m going through my pre-teen twilight phase again but as an adult lol. I’ve been going Goth as a conscious fashion decision and I even went to Emo Nite with my friends this month.
The Ozarks, on Netflix: UM HOLY WOW, Jason Bateman’s a legend. Binged this whole thing with my mom in like a week. It was great
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, on Netflix: AGAIN WOW!! I’m a huge fan of the original show, but this version is so awesome! Binged this over Halloweekend too, and I’m happy I did. 10/10 would recommend.
The Office, S3E6: The Diwali Episode— I watch this episode every Diwali as my own little tradition for being such a huge ABCD (America-Born-Confused-Desi).
Ram-Leela: Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh got married this month and I HAD to pay tribute. The movie’s aight, but I s2g if I’m not bopping to Nagada Sang Dhol at my future wedding, it’s over. Plus, as usual, every single outfit Deepika wears is like the Gods themselves put it together.
Closing Arguments:
I’m working my way towards a more cohesive “On My Radar",” but this was my first real step towards that. As usual, all these are just my own opinions, and you don’t have to listen or watch anything I’m suggesting— but I’ll just put it out there anyway. Who knows, maybe someone cares, lol.
It’s been another Blue Month for me, and I’m starting to acknowledge that this isn’t how I want to feel anymore. It’s the anniversary period of a lot of painful things for me personally, and as happy as I am that I lived through these events, I’m still kinda bummed that they happened in the first place. Also, my birthday’s coming up and as dramatic as it sounds to say I hate my birthday and wish I was never born sometimes, that’s really how it is sometimes! Idk man, it is what it is.
Anyways, I’m signing off now, and will be back with more soon. I hope you guys have had a great month so far though, and please comment below if you have any recommendations for me on anything because I’m always on the lookout.
Sending good vibes your way,
