The One With the Blog 4/22/18

Hey there, I’m Ambika.

I’m not sure how these things normally work, so please bear with me while I learn as I go. Like most of you reading this, I’m out here constantly growing and shaping from my experiences— so I would hope that any reflections I post on here remain as just that— my reflections. The things that have happened in the past, and the stories I’ve made in those moments should stay in their timeline. I’ve found that the best way to move forward with life is to take account for what’s happened and not let that stop you from continuing onward. It took me a while to realize it, but there’s a lot to look forward to in life. From here on out, that’s exactly what I intend on doing— look forward and prepare myself for what the world’s got in store.

I set up this blog with the intent on shedding light on the social issues that have surrounded me growing up. I’m fully aware that I’m one of many voices in my Indian-American diaspora. I’m aware that I’m not the first woman who has experienced their fair-share of clashes between who we are at home, who we are at school/work, and who we are when we try to blend these worlds. My only attempt with this blog is to share my stories, in my own way. I also want to use this platform to talk about other things that have impacted my life— for example: what it’s like to grow up with a special needs sister, what it’s like to be a young woman in 2018, and what it’s like to hike 6 hours into secluded wilderness and still end up finding a hot-cheeto packet tucked between tree trunks. In short, I guess I’ll use this as my online-diary of sorts, and in the off-chance that one of you can relate to any of my stories, I’ll know my job is done.

There’s a lot of work I want to get done in my time here, and as badly as I want to be able to, I know I can’t do it alone. There’s just too much to do, and one lifetime’s just not enough time to do it. So, as I work my way towards meeting my dreams and helping those in need, I look to you, my readers, my friends, and my family, for the courage and support I need to do it.

Anyways, here goes! Let’s get started.

Thank you.
