And so, as we close the year out, I figure there’s no better time to close out this latest and arguable most windiest chapter of my life so far.
I wrote this after reading his poem, “Dear Basketball” like 10 times today, and crying more tears than I thought I had in me. I just wanted to channel what I was feeling into a letter of things that I wish I could’ve said if we ever met.
Last year, a week before my Birthday, I’d started this chapter of “Letters to You, from Me.” I thought it’d be cute to start a tradition of yearly reflections. So I present you, #5 To Me, From Me.
On the anniversary of that terrible day, this letter is meant for someone I wish got to see us grow up.
This one’s about someone very close to me, my apologies, and my daydreams of a perfect world.
This is a letter to someone I think I loved. Wherever he is now, and regardless of what happened, I hope he’s happy.
